Celebrated Pride Month
in June
#R3cPrideMonth

Avenues for Youth
Avenues partners with youth experiencing homelessness to achieve their dreams. We strive to do that in a safe and nurturing environment through a social justice lens. Each year, Avenues seeks to support 300 youth and young families from the Twin Cities area, who are ages 16 to 24, while they define their experiences, life dreams and futures. All programs support youth who identify as LGBTQI+, a demographic that is 120% more likely to experience homelessness than their peers.

Rainbow Health Minnesota
Rainbow Health helps people navigate healthcare systems by breaking down barriers, especially LGBTQ+ people, those affected by HIV, and others facing barriers to equitable health care. Formerly JustUs Health, Rainbow Health was created from the merger of the Minnesota AIDS Project, Rainbow Health Initiative, and Training to Serve. For 38 years Rainbow Health has provided compassionate care for thousands of individuals in our community and fought for better health systems for those erased and excluded. Rainbow Health works tirelessly to ensure everyone has access to health care that respects who they are.

Volunteer Opportunities
June 22nd at Noon: Thank You Card Writing
Join us for an hour of virtual, hands-on volunteering. Avenues for Youth will be facilitating a session for R3C. They will inform everyone on why this activity is so important to the success of their organization and assist all on how to best create these cards.
R3C will be providing the thank you cards which will be available for pick up at your Minneapolis location (see Terrie Hall). The cards will be written for current and former hosts of the ConneQT host home program. This recognizes volunteers of Avenues for Youth who are making a positive difference in the lives of LGBTQI+ youth experiencing homelessness. We will gather on Zoom for an overview of Avenues for Youth's ConneQT host home program followed by a card writing activity. Click here to sign up!
Participate in LGBTQ Research
Everyone deserves to age with dignity, grace, and support. Be part of a community-wide effort to provide insight into the health needs of LGBTQ+ Minnesotans. Your responses help inform policy and funding decisions at a state level for the estimated 48,000+ LGBTQ+ seniors living in Minnesota. The survey should take 30-45 minutes to complete and includes questions about you, family, friends, caregiving and services that older adults may use. It is open to everyone 50 years and older and all responses will be anonymous. We hope to receive approximately 600 responses.

LGBTQI+ Youth Homelessness: An Invisible Crisis
June 16th
12:00pm
Central Time
LGBTQI+ youth are disproportionately represented in homeless youth counts. They endure higher rates of adversity, and face more discrimination in housing, education and employment than their straight or cisgender peers. This session discusses the issue of LGBTQI+ youth homelessness in the Twin Cities, what Avenues is doing to support LGBTQI+ youth, and how community members can become involved. Avenues for Youth supports LGBTQI+ through all of its programs. And the ConneQT host home program provides culturally responsive housing support for youth who identify as LGBTQI+ within their community of choice.
